This one-of-a-kind coffee table is handcrafted from a single slab of spalted cottonwood, showcasing the natural character that only time and nature can create. Every crack, spalting line, and irregular edge tells part of the tree’s history, while blue epoxy was carefully used to stabilize and preserve the wood’s unique features rather than hide them.

The cottonwood was sourced from a local woodworker in Emmett, Idaho, where it was kiln-dried before construction. From there, every step of the build was completed by hand in my shop—from flattening and shaping the slab to sanding, finishing, epoxy work, and final assembly.

The tabletop is paired with a sculptural brushed steel pedestal base manufactured by Flowyline Design. The base complements the organic shape of the wood while providing excellent stability. It also features adjustable leveling feet to compensate for uneven floors, and it can be removed easily with a standard Allen wrench for transport or moving.

Rather than forcing the slab into a perfect circle, I chose to preserve its natural outline. The result is a coffee table that feels modern while still celebrating the character of the original tree. No two pieces of cottonwood ever develop the same spalting patterns, making this table completely unique.
